The State Secretariat for education and research deals with various files concerning grants.
Its work partly concerns federal subsidies to the cantons for expenditures on grants for Swiss students.
SER also coordinates and finances Swiss scholarships for university studies, fine arts and music schools granted to foreign students.
It is also responsible for the allocation and awarding of grants for postgraduate studies at the European University Institute in Florence and the College of Europe in Bruges and Campus Natolin.
Finally, SER manages the secretariat of the Achille Isella Fund which helps talented Swiss students continue their studies at a Swiss university or college.
