The U.S. Fulbright – Swiss Scholarship Program is a highly prestigious student exchange program that has been active on a bilateral basis for many years. It provides scholarships for Swiss students to study in the United States and for U.S. students to study in Switzerland.
The program continues to be an important tool for the U.S. and the Swiss governments to promote mutual understanding, as evidenced by their ongoing financial and administrative support of the Fulbright program. The Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS) is the funding body in Switzerland. The U.S. counterpart is the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the Department of State. In addition to government support, an extra 2–4 grants are funded by generous private sector donations to a total of 16–20 grants to be awarded each academic year.
