NTB was founded in 1968 and is now part of the Fachhochschule Ostschweiz (FHO), together with the Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil, the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Chur and the Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Soziale Arbeit St. Gallen. On the basis of a treaty, the governing body of the NTB consists of the Principality of Liechtenstein as well as the cantons of St. Gall and the Grisons. FHO today has an enrolment of approximately 2’100 students. The Interstaatliche Hochschule für Technik Buchs NTB today has approximately 300 degree students as well as approximately 50 students in postgraduate and continuing education. As a public service, the NTB is strongly involved in research and development as well as in technology and knowledge transfer.
