The EPFL, Federal polytechnic school of lausanne, Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, in Switzerland, offers 13 complete study programs leading to Bachelor's and Master's degrees in architecture, civil engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, microengineering, materials science, electrical engineering, computer science, communications systems, and life sciences and technology, that conform to the requirements of the Bologna Accords. The Doctoral School gives PhD students an ideal environment in which to study and conduct research. EPFL has more than 250 laboratories whose research places the School among the world's most productive scientific institutions. The School encourages transdisciplinary research and education. The transfer of research results and new technology is also one of EPFL's top priorities. An incubator, coaching services, entrepreneurship study programs and innovation programs stimulate links between EPFL laboratories and business. The Science park is home to more than 100 businesses. The EPFL campus is a dynamic environment of intellectual exchange. Over a hundred nationalities are represented on campus and 50% of our professors come from abroad. Thanks to the efforts of our equal opportunity office, the number of women scientists at EPFL continues to increase. Nearly 25000 students live in the Lausanne metropolitan area.
